Philippe started his career in Liège, Belgium, as an aerospace engineer. While trying to launch his own startup, he developed a deep interest in software engineering and soon moved to San Francisco where he worked for Storify, Livefyre, and DIY. He joined Google four years ago in New York City as a senior software engineer and is now the Tech Lead of the backend team at Kaggle (acquired by Google), a start-up which has used predictive modeling competitions to solve problems across a range of fields, including mapping dark matter and now, COVID-19. The platform is the world’s largest data science and machine learning community, with over four million members.
